Yes I am still here. Yes I still work for the Screw. Would I leave them if I thought I had a good option? YES!
Overall working here does do for me what I came here to do. It does make me a decent paycheck most weeks. I even do not mind driving the truck and the job I have. I do however mind the BullShit that one must put up with here to get the decent paycheck. I have never in my life worked a job that had so many STUPID things you had to do to keep your job and your employers happy.
In one of my talks with the higher ups (not real high though) I was told Welcome to the Real World. I am not sure what Real World he has ever lived in but I figure he has never done anything but work in trucking, and probably for Werner most of the time. As I see it he left out part of the Welcome. It should have been Welcome to the Real STUPID World. I have lived and worked in the real World probably longer than he has been alive. I have worked in other places that were run poorly as well, but none that seem as stupid as this.
I am sure this company is doing something right as they are a very big and profitbable company so somewhere it works. It must not be Stupid everywhere or it would not be so big and profitable, but on my end I do find a lot of stupidity.
Overall though I must say that Werner has come close to giving me what they said they would when I was recruited. They have actually done better than I expected, but they left out a lot of the stuff you have to deal with to get the pay. Oh well just a quick post to blow off some steam and kill some time.
To all of you considering going to work for this company, I would say weigh your options well. If you are new to trucking, your options may not be that good anyway as you have to start someplace and of all the big starter type companies I am unsure that I could have done much better for what I was looking for. But do talk to other companies and see who has what works for you best and be prepared to put up with a lot of Bullshit for a while.
